WHO WE ARE

Sakapala Community Centre is located at Mtoni Kijichi in Temeke District, in Dar-Es-Salaam Region in Tanzania.

Tanzania is (more than six times the size of Georgia; slightly larger than twice the size of California) a beautiful and diverse country. Nestled in the heart of East Africa, Tanzania is home to the vast Serengeti and the Great Migration, as well as Kilimanjaro (highest point in Africa- 5,895 M), the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, and the island paradise of Zanzibar. Tanzania bordering the Indian Ocean, between Kenya and Mozambique. Tanzania has a population of 63,852,892 (2022 est.). Kiswahili or Swahili is official language and English is primary language of commerce, administration, and higher education.

Mtoni Kijichi where Sakapala Community Centre is located has a population of over 100,000 with three primary schools and only one high school serving about 7700 students with no single public or private library apart from Sakapala Community Centre. The Centre is located near the spectacular Indian Ocean.

Skills Activities

Sewing & Tailoring classes; Entrepreneurial training, workshops, and seminars i.e. making Lotion and Soaps, Reusable Menstrual Pads, Batik and Uniforms.

Social Activities

Sports; Fine Arts i.e Modern & Traditional dance, Music & Drama.

After School Programs

Science Camp- Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) program for Primary and Secondary School students, Art classes, and Tutoring program.

Science Camp

A significant number of primary schools’ students in Tanzania are not taught science experiments until reach High Schools. The SCC is focuses on teaching kids Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Arts (STEM with Arts) hands- on activities to 3 yrs to 14 yrs students.
