Zawadi Sakapalla-Ukondwa-MBA
Zawadi Sakapalla-Ukondwa, MBA, is a Tanzanian-born author, early childhood literacy advocate, and visionary co-founder of the Sakapala Community Centre (SCC) located in Mtoni Kijichi, Dar es Salaam. With deep roots in Tanzania and over 30 years living in the U.S. diaspora, Zawadi bridges cultures and continents through her commitment to education, cultural preservation, and social empowerment.
Under her leadership, SCC has grown into a thriving hub for early learning, vocational skills, and community development programs that serve tens of thousands in Dar es Salaam and beyond. Through her children’s books, she promotes cultural heritage and global awareness among Tanzanian youth, especially those growing up in diaspora communities.
Zawadi’s impact extends beyond the Centre as she actively participates in diaspora leadership roles, advocating for education equity, women’s empowerment, and cross-cultural exchange.
