Daycare

Pre-care Education in Tanzania is not free, and many families can’t afford to send their children to a private daycare school. At Sakapala community Centre we offer daycare education at an affordable price of TZS. 20,000 per student per month. And about 45 Students attend our daycare daily. To date 239 students attended Sakapala Community Centre and 1,195 Families benefited.

Virtual Sewing & Tailoring Classes

We provide Sewing and Tailoring Virtual Training in Swahili. People can watch our Sewing and Tailoring Virtual Training via our YouTube channel for free at SAKAPALLATV. To date 258,864 people watched our virtual training videos and over 1,294,320 families benefited.

Skills Activities

Sewing & Tailoring & Uniform & Reusable Pads Making

A significant number of challenges in the community exist simply because of a lack of education or access to important information or lack of life skills. The Sakapala Community Centre is offering training and giving adults and young adults a lifetime skill in Sewing and Tailoring i.e. stitching clothes, and designing the latest patterns as desired by the customers. The students that are attending our Sewing and Tailoring program are coming from low-income areas. To date 18 Students graduated 624 Uniforms made. 3,210 Families benefited economically.

Entrepreneurial Training & Batiki Making

In Tanzania, the entrepreneurs who owned small & medium enterprises( SMEs) face several constraints such as limited finances, poor market accessibility, and low entrepreneurial knowledge which hinders their growth. The Sakapala Community Centre hosts business training and workshops that are focused on empowering SMEs entrepreneurs with knowledge on how to overcome those constraints. 190 women trained in marketing their products and over 1024 families benefit from women using their skills to support themselves and their families.

Afterschool Programs

Digital Skills & Environmental Awareness

The primary objective of teaching primary schools’ students digital skills is introduce various digital skills including digital art, keyboarding, educational apps, digital storytelling, and problem-solving games. The students will have an opportunity to brainstorm ideas for their digital story project , create simple digital artwork, play problem-solving games, and learn keyboard layout and proper hand positioning by practice typing letters, words, and simple sentences. Sakapala Community Centre is working with primary schools’ students to be aware of their environment. We work with several projects including planting and taking care of trees. We educate students on the significance of tree planting. The trees planting enhanced the environment, beautified their schools and at the same time creates a greener, more sustainable future for our community. We planted Mdodoma and Mharadai trees. 236 Students from 3 primary schools attended digital Skills classes. 1,180 Families benefited. 23 Students participated in planting 30 trees. 1 School with 2500 students and 51 teachers benefited.

Tutoring & Stem With Arts - Science Camp

The standard of teaching in many primary & secondary schools is still not up to the required standard. That is why only families which can afford to pay for their children for further studies send their children to private tuition/ tutoring. However, the majority of families can’ t affords the tuition fee. As a Centre, we thrive in providing high- quality tutoring classes that can help students strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills.A significant number of primary schools students in Tanzania are not taught science experiments until reach High Schools. The Sakapala Community Centre is focuses on teaching kids Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Arts ( STEM with Arts) hands- on activities to 3 yrs to 14 yrs students. The students that are attending our STEM with Arts program are coming from low- income areas.615 students and 37 schools attended. 3075 families benefited.

Diversity Lottery Visa application

The Department of State administers the Diversity Visa (DV) immigrant visa program, which is an annual program for immigration to the United States. Up to 55,000 immigrants can enter the United States each year from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. Sakapala Community Centre assist individuals and families to apply for USA - Diversity Lottery Visa Program. To date Sakapala Community Centre assisted over 469 people to apply for USA - Diversity Lottery Visa Program.

Service-Learning Programs

Since 2019, Sakapala Community Centre has helped more than 408 volunteers complete service-learning programs in Tanzania, East Africa. Our diverse range of long and short-term Service-Learning projects are available year-round and include: Childcare > Sewing and Tailoring > Fine Arts > Virtual Swahili Sewing & Tailoring Classes> Digital Skills & Environmental Awareness Entrepreneurship > Batik making >stem with arts>tutoring > Making Menstrual Reusable Pads > Making uniforms and much more. To date 408 Students & Adults participated from 20 universities in the USA, UK, Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania. 22 High Schools in the USA, UK, Kenya & Tanzania.
