STEM With Arts Education

Since 2019, Sakapala Community Centre has helped more than 70 volunteers complete service-learning programs in Tanzania, East Africa. Our diverse range of long and short-term Service-Learning projects are available year-round and include:

  • Childcare > Sewing, and Tailoring > Fine Arts
  • Entrepreneurship > Sports > English Classes
  • Tutoring > Library > Computer Classes
  • Making Menstrual Reusable Pads > Making Uniforms and much more.

All our volunteers in Service-Learning are from USA, UK, Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania. With Program Fees starting at just $280 USD for one week, we offer fully hosted Service- Learning projects for college students, high school and individuals at any stage of life. STEM With Arts Education

A significant number of primary schools students in Tanzania are not taught science experiments until reach High Schools. The Sakapala Community Centre is focuses on teaching kids Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Arts ( STEM with Arts) hands- on activities to 3 yrs to 14 yrs students. The Students that are attending our STEM with Arts program are coming from low- income areas. Volunteers at SCC can use their skills and knowledge by assist our teachers during STEM with Arts activities.

Duration : 1-14 Days ; Location: SCC; Volunteers Aged: 18+

Program Impact

  • Assist during STEM with Arts educational activities at the SCC.
  • Volunteers can help kids become versed in the principles of Science and Arts through hands- on activities, critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Increases access to STEM with Arts education to students in Tanzania.
  • Set up and run hands- on science experiments that help students to learn STEM with Arts education.

When you volunteer during STEM with Arts educational activities in Tanzania you will be helping teach the students, while also developing personally and professionally by:

STEM With Arts Education Volunteer Requirements

  • All volunteers are required to have adequate volunteer travel insurance.
  • All volunteers are required to provide Program Fees starting at just $ 280 USD for one week, including accommodation, meals, airport picks up, orientation, and 24 / 7 support. Volunteers aged 16 – 18 are required to provide SCC with parental consent to participate in the program independently.
  • Volunteers aged 16 – 18 are required to provide SCC with parental consent in order to participate in the program independently.
  • Volunteers will receive a Certificate of Volunteering from Sakapala Community Centre.
  • Volunteers will receive discounts on Swahili lessons.
  • A program fee will not cover visa, flights, travel insurance (mandatory), vaccinations, criminal background check, dinner, public transport to and from your placement each day, and return to the airport when your program finishes.

You’ re welcome to bring Science Experimental Equipment’s such as Microscopes, STEM building toys, iPads or laptops computers, blocks, compasses, magnifying glasses, etc. Some supplies can generally be purchased in Tanzania, which also helps to support the local economy.
