Important LessonsZawadi Sakapalla-Ukondwa is a mother of two, early childhood literacy advocate, and co-founder of the Sakapala Community Center in Mtoni Kijichi, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Committed to empowering underserved communities, she writes storiess that inspire learning, empathy, cultural awareness, and social engagement in preschool and early grade levels. In addition to writing, Zawadi enjoys traveling, listening to music, and cooking delicious meals inspired by her Tanzanian roots.
Her book Let’s Go Volunteer is a heartwarming story inspired by her daughter Mariam’s journey of discovering the joy of giving back. Through this engaging tale, young readers learn about kindness, generosity, friendship, and cultural connections while embracing the joy of helping others. Even more special, all proceeds from the book support programs at the Sakapala Community Centre. Let’s Go Volunteer is available in both English and Swahili.
Passionate about education and community empowerment, Zawadi is dedicated to uplifting underserved communities in the U.S. and abroad through literacy, skill-building, and social engagement. She resides in Howard County, Maryland, U.S. with her family. A devoted wife and mother, her children are currently pursuing higher education at the University of Maryland and Harvard Law School.
Zawadi actively serves in leadership roles across various U.S diaspora organizations, advocating for education, social welfare, and cultural awareness.
